Engaging effectively with a child prodigy

Post by uday_shankar »

Happy to share this informal video of a child prodigy that I have known since birth, Akshara Samkriti, daughter of well known Carnatic vocalist Smt. Kiranavali Vidyasankar and Shri Vidyasankar Sundaresan...

Quoting from the YouTube caption:

Akshara having some musical fun around 14 & 19 months of age (March & Aug 2010), with her mother & guru, Carnatic musician Kiranavali. Minimal editing has been done to emphasize the natural way in which a child of that age can be engaged between all her other distractions.

Young akshara is superb. Kudos to their parents . I remember she briefly singing when we all met in rasikas meet. She and your daughter did something which I forgot now

Best wishes to akshara in.pursuing classical music. Tx uday.

Indeed a pleasure to see little Akshara identifying ragas with aplomb belying her age & even happier to note that she is blossoming into a fine singer. Please find below a link of Akshara singing Pantuvarali Varnam in the Dec 2018 music season at the Paddhathi Music Festival - Mylapore
