The triSra transition in the last one, has a good ettakkAram bringing in the footprint of nAgasvaram music into it, with the atItam entering the setting! tAvil may not have a harmonic sound. It is through such abstraction that they performed the nirUpaNam of their sangItam! Haven't heard the 78 RPM. But I would imagine they would alternate between the bass and metallic to add effect for each of the successive atItams!

I should also add, the trISra passage starts anAgata and ends atIta on the veechu. With a long pause on the repetition, going over the samam that is saSabda kriya, it is a calm before another storm, a cyclone crossing the shore line!
