1974 : Chembai Balamurali TVG Alangudi

Bengaluru got as much rain in 24 hours as Chennai would get in a whole year.

Really languid. I started listening to this vintage recording.

Someone said this must have been Chembai's last concert. BMK is himself on the viola, and I am a fan of TVG's mridangam.

Bless the great man Chembai. A true king maker apart from being a king himself. A bell-like voice. Nothing false or cheap in his music.

Balamurali strikes pure notes all the time.

TVG is like a great T20 finisher with his daring strokes.

A concert that shows how the true spirit of Carnatic music needs not bells and whistles but a kind of conviction. That's it.

Sreenivasamurthy is the BMK man like Kalam was the missile man. Bless him for uploading this. The recording puts to shame most of today's live streams.
