Kedaram is a lovely upcoming sabha roughly in 09th or 10th year. Shri Kedarnath is running it and he had conducted an exclusive RTP 4 day series. I had a chance to attend this and another RTP. In the paper Ramprasad concert was advertised as kedaragowlai but in the concert Reetigowlai was sung .No cribs on the kedara to reeti swap.

Ramprasad is a very sincere and intensely focussed musician . He started with a nera nammiti which registered well and he decided to beat his voice well enough in pantuvarali before launching to RTP. The pantuvarali neraval and swaras were clinical presentation with the sadguru appa raama bhakthi.

Ramprasad then registered very well with a keezh Kalam and lot of mandara sthaya pidi of reetigowlai . HE layered very well the alapana and in the second half came up with a nice madhyamakaala alapana , could spot a bit of clinical finish like ariyakudi , HE gave few briga flashes like semmangudi. Taanam was not metered with mrudangam that was a clean madhyamakaala taanam . THe pallavi was well done with great swaras in all 3 ragas . I particularly loved his subhapantuvarali which was exceptional , he came out so original in there. Personally subhapantuvarali had a length as much as a kapi or hamsanandi ragamaliga. The intermediate vasanthi and the last shurutti was also well done . The last shurutti GKB thukkada was very intense and he finished well

Violinist L Ramakrishnan was exceptional . HE had right fluidity and had nice azhuttam . In this concert if there was some thing to crib ,the alapana of reetigowlai in 4 rounds of vocal and violin was not the best of my liking . Excess pass of vocal and violin does not give intense carnaticness for me.

All said Ramprasad did sing very well . IT was a joy to see his father Rajaram sitting few rows in front of me . HE once had a greatest father PMI now he has a great son. Ramprasad has a very masculine voice but his style is bit getting hindustanized a lot with lot of those aksharams at times .He can watch a bit more to have less of hindustani aksharam slant . His biggest plus is his intensity to anchor very well in madhyama Kaalam

Overall an excellent concert for 2 hours
