The tone of the concert was set by a racy Sadinchene in Aarabhi. This was followed by Kaavaavaa in varali, with a round of swarams and some sangathis in Tisram. The submain was Dikshitar's Sri Mathrubhootham in Kannada. Bharat pointed out the possibility of suchita raga mudra in the anupallavi "sOmasakham nata" or "Shuka sanakam Nala" , a very keen observation. Dikshitar has used suchita raga mudra in several of his compositions - maghamasotsava - indicating Khamas, chidbimbau lila vigrahau indicating bauli in Sri parvati parameshwarau vande, Chid prati bhimbe gala jitha in Sri dum durge.
Ambujam Krishna's composition in Riti gaula followed the kannada piece as a filler.
He took up the 62nd melakartha Rishabhapriya for elaboration. For this listener, it was a first time experience, having not been exposed to Rishabhapriya, thought it was Charukesi first, until M2 came and then thought it was Shanmukhapriya , and Bharat mercifully resolved this listener's confusion by announcing the raga. The alapana had a smattering of nadaswaram sangathis and this listener thought that the alapana by both Bharath and Sayee were very good. The main piece was Ghananaya Desika by Koteeswara Iyer. During the alapana, Bharat went out to explain the symmetric spacing between panchama varja notes of Rishabhapriya, and demonstrated how the raga itself is cyclic, briefly discussing gopriya and kokilapriya
The thani that Sumesh played - be it the initial Raghu style phrases in the first round, the smattering of pudukkottai style dhin dhin tha tha dhin dhin tisram sequence, and a couple of other phrases, or be it the beautiful tisra nadai variations, the koraippu together koraippu with Chandru, was well rounded.
The following pieces were an excellent tamil virutham, arunagirinathar's "moi thaar ani kuzhal" followed by manadhirkugandhadhu , in Sindhubhairavi, with several "sindhu" style phrases, Purandara dasa's anthakana Dhutharige in Bageshri and a beautiful pahaadi thillana in misra chaapu by Lalgudi Jayaraman, made the thirty mile trip worthwhile for this listener
