I have personally benefited with forums say from the titanic (sangeetham.com which was unplugged without notice) and this rasikas (which is so alive and living) . Over a period i could spot the metamorphosis of artists like abilash , abhishek, Amrutha, Amritha etal (all those are artists beginning A)from young to super mature artistry

Over a period of time i have made up my life that the greatest vidwans and vidushis for extraordinary Carnaticness is what i call as Carnatic vocal trinity . They are the mmi-ssi-gnb. That is the remote past .The immediate past is say three musicians whom i adore say Suryaprakash-Abhishek-Sanjay. This musician Abilash bringing in a rich amalgamation of creativity that is anchored with extraordinary remote and immediate past , he generally presented every bit with what i call weighty sangathis and sancharas only concert .

He started with his trademark hayagreevar slokham and sang a beautiful sree ranjani alapana and launched into gajavadana karuna with great swaras. I have personally heard this lovely composition for the first time only through the great vidwan DK Jayaraman, i was wondering did he start that keeping J Vaidyanathan(DKJ son) in mind . Swaras are organic with a lovely kalapramanam tightness . What a joy to hear the next asaveri . voice and krithi rendition was weighty i wish he went to swaras but hey he teased only with krithi but definitely well done

Two weighty ragams and krithis followed . BEgada is a tricky raga and following with varAli is quite heavy for many. I liked both especially the rendition of weighty krithi of seshachala nayakam and a brief slokham was very insightful varali for me. Mohanam had a lovely outline alapana and GKB krithi of mohanam was done well

A well crafted big krithi and raga that too Bhairavi is always a great choice as it is favourite big 6 raga for me. ALapana was well sung , he was very methodical with lot of nadaswara pidi and he followed possibly rakshabettare assuming he was keeping DKJ/DKP in mind . HE did not sag in bhairavi and he sang very well

Ugabhooga is usually pushed behind viruththam and slokham . HE sang exceptionally well the ugabhooga and followed very well with a nice behag . ashtapadi in sindhubhairavi was well done and the last kamas was quite a testament as though he was a vidwan who sang in the era of MMI-SSI-GNB to me

The violinist Raghul has the same fingering technique like his guru M Chandrasekaran. QUite a lot of fingering during alapana with lot of brighas makes me wonder how a nadaswara vidwan will play violin. Two brilliant percussionist indeed
lifted the concert . J Vaidyanathan is a super senior vidwan , he just played with the attitude of say vellore ramabadran no showing off that i am senior artist and creating way too much of theermanams . JV gave a lot of toppi ,in lot of places he created lot of sarvalaghu oomph

Chandrasekara Sharma is maturing with lot of musical rhythmic weight ,during songs he kind of adopted lot of his school star ghatam Karthik like approach sudden one finger tapping , in course of songs he did well and during tani he was bit like V Suresh not easily surrendering to mrudangam artist.

Abilash made few mistakes possibly not keeping the janaranjakam into consideration . Abilash possibly following the heaviness of say begada and varali in succession was bit away from janaranjakam, he could have taken one of them out and possibly also sung a longer course of asaveri swaras . Also the mohanam drop of darisanam kandarkku appeared bit more in the land of more unfamiliar krithi . Instead of darisanam kandarkku he could have given that to more of bhairavi main . Standalone krithi without nerval and swaras are not my cup of tea.

The spread of assorted compositions like sanjay, sudden ideation during the course of song like abhishek and organic takeoff and landing in swaras and neravals with longer cycles going with the flow of that rhythmic taps of that present intensity like suryaprakash . Abilash did overall very well in the concert with carnatic intensity

Overall an excellent concert for 2 hours and 20 mins
