It is navarathiri time kind of a curtain raiser time for the December 2026 season. To the best of my knowledge concerts of navarathri are held in BVB and vanimahal only. I dont know if Ragasudha and Arkays have exclusive CM concerts. I had time and went to BVB yesterda . I knew they box it not more than usual 2 hours .The artists started at 06 40 and ended around 08 35 pm . Over the years i have observed Nisha meticulously does a great song selection , it is surely may be 5 or more no of years since i heard her and she kept that meticulous excellence intact. Musically this concert had its shortcoming .

The start was lovely in nattai , the slokham was well done , i just googled to find this as saraswati slokham surely apt for the festival .Who is this puliyur doraisamy iyer is what i used to wonder few decades back .How did he give such a sparkling nattai krithi kind of having a feel of a bit of MD and T . Nisha sang well but the swaras could have been far more than what she sang

THe drop of bowli with Karunanidhi taayE was brief definitely at that time i was waiting for Nisha excellence . Submain zoned towards Nisha musical excellence , it was a clean submain , konjam risk in alapana or neraval or swaras would have been more satisfying, still ok as it was thematic navarathri . The days best was indeed the preceding bhairavi slokham and the long krithi in bhairavi the majestic kamalAmba navaavarna krithi - kamalAmbikayAh . NIshi sang very well the bhairavi krithi with nice voice power and sunaadam touches . Bhairavi was extremely satisfying and was the pick of the whole concert.

Taaye Tripura sundari with few cittaswaras could have also a long swaras pattern but the swara pattern was only my wish. Madhyamavati alapana was just there with a lot of madhyamakala sancharas . Konjam risk especially to show bit more lower and higher octave would have been better for my satisfaction . She sang the masterpiece krithi pAlimsu Kamakshi very well .The neraval was in a different line again bit consciously expansion away from excessive madhyamakalam squat would have given more madhyamavati rasa .Swaras in madhyamavati had a little glimpse of one of her super guru mama TRS and she sang well .

With many composers covered when i was wondering will she go for some devi based krithi of Thyagaraja . At that time i was wondering if there is sadguru Devi krithi as a tukkada post main . She came up with Annamacharya krithi in kurunji and i liked her rendition of ksheerAbhdi kanyakakku . Bharathiyar sprightly Nenjukku Neethiyum gave a good preclosure . The most iconic flagship krithi of BVB which is near karpagambal temple the krithi karpagamE did give a great finish

The violinist Madan mohan , RKSK disciple was just going with the flow of the singer , his play was at its best in valaci . ArunPrakash could have significantly played and gone with more dynamic mrudangam strokes . The play was in considerable zone of low voltage , his style is to go way too long for the significant course of the song with a pattern that is not showing much variations and at times he excessively pauses way too many well left and dotballs . Arunprakash had upapakkavadhyam and it was a concert only 2 hours but his approach was more like that he was a mrudangam player playing for 12 hours in mahasivarathri akandam.Guruprasad had far more variations and his play during the course of the song was more gelling with me. Tani was just good.

Nisha excellence could have been more if there was bit more mrudangam dynamism exhibited . Also her voice did show a bit of strain to reach higher octaves and she did not attempt much, little more manodharma based risk taking like TRS mama can be a great addition to her music . Nisha in this concert had significant shades of MLV especially when she sang Jalandhara i spotted that the most.

Overall a good to very good concert for nearly 2 hours
