Can we please have *meaningful* thread titles please? I clicked on this thinking it was something to do with Lord Guruvayoorappan. Not to read about a death.

What a sad news !
I think GOD is an unpredictable Pessimist.
Snatching away yet another noble soul, from the music field bears testimony to this statement. A person who put his heart and soul for the cause of Divine Music , althrough the years. is no longer with us.! But the legacy he has left over will surely be remembered for decades.
May the departed soul rest in peace !!!
With profound grief
Ramaraj

O what a bad news. He conducts 4 month old program where he gives oppurtunity for many many artists.Last time I talked with him in a sikkil gurucharan's concert, he was lamenting about poor concert attendance. He gave a very fine speech in english mourning subbudu's death. He is also related to maharAjapuram Santhanam family. May his soul rest in peace.

May his Soul Rest in Peace! And may God grant fortitude to his family to deal with such a loss.

He was another example of the seemingly incongruous blend of CM and cricket...

HAMSADWANI RAMACHANDRAN

The word HAMSADWANI BY IT SELF is synonymous with RAMACHANDRAN and inseparable from the world of music.
(1) a good cricketer of yester years
(2) A versatile editor of a news magazine of repute
(3) A role model patron
(4) A role model connoisseur
(5) A role model organizer
(6) And more than anything else A ROLE MODEL RASIKA.

Prof. TRS (who has great regards for Mr.Ramachandran and his music organization ) made a specific request to me 2 days before his scheduled concert at the Hamsadwani, to compose a kriti with insistence on the PALLAVI line starting with the word â€

This is really a terrible news. He has been a good friend and promoter of many musicians and young talents. A great organiser who did everything in finest detail and perfection with great sense of timing. I have personally lost a good friend. He has not been keeping good health for some years and despite that he has untiringly put his soul and heart into the organisation and generally to give a dignified platform for good music.
I fondly and gratefully remember his sincere involvement in the fund raising for Kargil victims by musicians a few years back. He gave the volunteering musicians a big list of liberal doners in his contacts and contacted everyone personally to do his best when approached. His unique presentation of every musician's profile( not stopping with just the center performer) on the stage highlighting their music as well as their personal traits were a great treat to hear. His language, pun, jargons and quotes were of high order and tasteful. His fragile form made everyone wonder about his source of energy. He would always say he derived energy only from tireless sincere work. May almighty give his soul a celebrated place in the heaven. He will be remembered for ever for his selfless work.

Despite my cribs, Hamsadhwani has been an integral part of my listening experience in Chennai for over 5 years (in fact I think I heard my first concert in Chennai at that venue)...My condolences to his family and hoping that the good work will be continued.
