Is there a panchama varjya janya of kAmavardhini? If so, what is it's name?

s r1 g3 m2 d1 n3 s - s n3 d1 m2 g3 r1 s

Do any compositions exist?

Thanks Krishna.

Found another kriti by jayachAmaraja oDeyar - ambA shri rAjEshwari

Here is a link to a very nice (non-classical) song in this rAga:

http://www.udbhava.com/usearch/search.s ... s=on&cat=0

The first one is from a live program sung by Ratnamala Prakash (daughter or Sri R K Srikanthan), and IMO much better than the filmi version sung by S Janaki. The instrumental track at the beginning strays to other melodies, but the song confirms to this rAga.

BTW the corresponding hindustani melody is called din-ki-pooriya

JC did not invent any rAgas. He rather rediscovered rAgas in ancient texts and gave them a life and shape of their own. bhOgavasanta is one of them. The 2 other kRtis that ksrimech has mentioned, JC was before PT, while MArimuttApillai 's song is tuned by later musicians I think.

He may have - the raga 'Amritavarshini',the janya of Jhalavarali. In the AIR announcement,it is mentioned that it is a product of JCW's genius and may be aptly named Navamrutavarshini.I dont have the recording handy with me.
In fact,Jayasamvardhini is his creation too.
