Dear All,
I have a doubt. I have a sruthi box with scales written as C,D,E,F,A and B and with sub graduations between them too. I want to set a sruthi of 1 or 1-1/2 kattai. In that case on which letter, I should set the dial. Please let me know the corresponding letter for 1 kattai and and for 1 and a 1/2 kattai. Also please let me know the kattais corresponding to the other letters. The detailed diagram of the dial is given below:
The big I's correspond to the letters and the small i's to the graduations between them.
I i I i I i I i I i I
C D E F A B
Looking forward to hear from you all. Thanks for the help in advance.
Regards,
Varadamurthy

bhaktha depicted it correctly.
Let me overlay the same information on the chart you gave ( BTW in your line chart, there should not be a smaller line between E and F ). Let me use Bold lines for your larger lines since the two types of lines are hard to distinguish
I i I i I I i I i I
C C# D D# E F F# G G# A
1 1.5 2 2.5 3 4 4.5 5 5.5 6

The 'kattai' ( lit. translation would be 'wood' ) actually refers to that physical key on the harmonium/piano/keyboard/etc.
In this numbering convention ( it is just a convention ), White keys represent the whole numbers and the black keys represents the .5.
3.5 does not exist in this numbering convention because between the 3rd white key and the 4th white key there is no black key.
(IMHO, it is quite a confusing and misleading convention, but we all have to get used to it. Misleading because between, say 2 and 2.5 the interval is a semi tone and between 3 and 4 it is also a semi tone whereas between 4 and 5 it is a full tone...etc )
