Karunimpa Idi – Sahana Varnam – Adi – Thiruvottiyur Thyagayya

Mamava Sadha – Nattaikurinji – Rupakam – Swathi Thirunal (NS)

The atmosphere at the Karnataka School’s auditorium wasn’t exactly electric – the lighting was gloomy and attendance stats, gloomier still…a lesser artiste would have sulked, a mere professional would have simply got on with the job…but to discover within oneself, the resonances and pulsations that were glaringly absent in the surroundings, is the trait of a rare musical specimen, best described by Shri Santhanagopalan’s handle on this forum – the Vidyaarthi.

Sunday’s sumptuous smorgasbord featured Kaapi as the main course but before queasy stomachs start churning, let me defer to an abler pen in describing the loftiness of Vidyaarthiji’s effort – “Swararaga Laya Sudha Rasaâ€

Thanks again...sure will try and keep it up although the amount of work to be wrapped up before my "season vacation" seems quite daunting so it maybe shorter reports/songlists for a while

Vijay,
Short is sweet too. Bala agrees. Can't top him on the compliment. Instead of Blandings Castle grounds, the kucEri jamakkALam is unrolled and you set the scene and give us a taste of the concert, wordsmith. A fitting short review for the man who gives the essence in music.
The literary side of a kalinga warrior is at play again. Cool wouldn't mind the brief reviews at all. Keep them coming we all say...

ram - now that he has got 6 smart kids to do the dirty work, he cannot dish out official duties as an excuse.

Ha! If I were him, I will just add "Dinner at Rani Mukherjee's house" as joining bonus.

ps. Not "Dinner with Rani Mukherjee"

Ram, I am just wondering whether your boss is coming to town to make counter offers to my recruits!

I don't think that would be needed. I bet at least one of them must be reading rasikas.org and getting some valuable insights into how great a profession consulting is anyway ;)

While we are still at it, here is an old classic for consultants and the like, from one of the Reader’s Digest issues :

Overheard at the veterinarian’s: I had my cat neutered. He is still out all night with the other cats, but now he is a consultant……

:)

Here is one more
Vijay .I could'nt resist
:D
How many consultants does it take to change a light bulb?

We don't know. They never get past the feasibility study

Three. One to change the bulb and two to write the standards and tell him what he did wrong

Five. One to change the bulb and four to contemplate how Tom Peters would have done it
.

None - if the light bulb needs no changing...but a consultant is unlikely to say that. Besides, this is giving me some good ideas for costing my next project

bharath
you could not have chosen a more appropriate artist' s thread for this burst of humor.
He is Art Buchwald , Cho Ramaswamy and Wodehouse, all rolled into one.
But one must watch him from very close quarters-
Like on the day at Sowmya's Home after Sankars Concert - giving his opinion on a 22 sruthi Veena on display , there.
A Very Subtle Artist.
In Music.
And in his Humor.

In the 'silent' picture pulses the angst of 'you know who'--the one who does all the work. if music is the salve, hope you get to hear more of NSG and others who offer it. Meanwhile, let humor keep us company as well :)

Judging by the looks,
I can see myself with my back to the camera (hand on my broken knee) talking to Nick.
The chap with the red Wind Cheater must be you Rajesh.Pressing that huge pen to your chin and trying to find that thin cable which separates Navroz and ....
With Vijay -the most smartly dressed one-to his left , using his mobile.
And the tall Mantra to his right.
Ram is there too, with his Monkey cap on.Looking at what vijay is trying to SMS.
Bharath is -as usual, down in the pit, trying to make sure there is no hidden kalyani in the pit, waiting to spring at him.
Much to the detached amusement of sathej, sitting on the drum.
VGv is there, hands on hips , worried about the slightest error in the sahitya rendering.
the Rest , I cannot identify.
Looks like another Pickwick Club is getting started here !!
