Wow...I've barely heard of some of these ragas...leave alone the krithis!

Were alapanas done in any of the non-main krithis?

Brief raga sketches were done for items #2 thru #5.

Krishna provided techinical details on the rare ragas/krithis at the beginning of every item. I chose to remain under the meditative spell that the team had created.

Are these kritis by any chance among the ones Sri TMK and Sri Sriramkumar have recreated using the notations from the sampradAya pradarSiNI?

i think shri bhargavi is one of them that TMK and RKS had recreated together. have heard it in one of the cd's and fell in love with the song... but yes, what a great song list. jealous of the chennai-ites for the exposure they get to such concerts...

The Tanukeerti song is there in the recording released by TMK and RKS.

I wouldn't believe Sri Bhargavi was resurrected, since there are other available renditions.

ramakriya,

sri tm krishna sir's rendition of shri bhargavi is significantly different from the available renditions.
sir and sriramkumar both reinterpret the kriti based entirely on the pradarshini.

In this context I am reminded of the kriti
Shri PArvati ParamEshwarou' in Bouli. Here also Shri MSD beautifully brings in the name of the raga-
'chithbim'boulE'lAvigrahou'.

Ravikiran,

I have listened to Sri TMK's and another from a student of Nagaraj D V of Bengalooru sometime back - I think there wasn't a marked difference and that is why I made that comment. The case with Tanukeerti (and some others like that are) quite different IMHO.

I am reminded of "pahimam ratnachala" in mukhari, where in MD uses the raaga mudra in his matchless style. He says "Sathyojathaadhi pancha mukhari shatvarga rahitha hrith sancharena" which splits as "sathyojathaadhi pancha mukha - ari shatvarga rahitha hrith sancharena"...MD never ceases to amaze.
