From this Monday, Jaya TV is broadcasting the subject recordings between 0630-0700hrs

1. Monday- RK Srikantan, Ravikiran,Guruvayur Dorai

c) Kandu Dhanya Nadena Udupi Krishnana -Behag

RKS indicated that he has been coming to Cleveland Thyagaraja Utsava for the past four years.
RKS also dwelled upon the complcations of performing Shruthi Bedham and this exrcise indicated thecompetance of the vocalist etc.,

2. Tuesday- GJR Krishnan & GJR Vijayalakshmi
a) Nirajakshi Kamakshi- Hindola
b) Sarasa Sama Dhana- Kapi Narayani

Thanks.. is this also broadcast in the evening? I tried to check yesterday evening but there was something else coming, so i was not sure if there is a retelecast of this in the evenings or not...

Friday: Chitraveena by Sri Ravikiran( Shishya accompanied with another Chitra Veena) - GJR Vijayalakshmi-Mannargudi Eswaran- Clevelan Sundaram(Khanjira)

1. Nattai Song ( Not popularly heard ) ?
Bhajanamrutha - Nattai - Oothukadu (Saptaratna)
-The oothukadu saptaratna piece was beautiful.

2. Varasikhi vahana was a great bonus.

Rasikas who have watched this program are requested to indicate the Title/Raga for items 1 & 2.
The whole concert was sheer melody.Excellent team work.

Jaya TV's Marghali Mahotsavam- The broadcast in the evening was for a duration of one(1) hr and portions of this concert was telecasted the next morning between 0630- to 0700hrs .

The Cleveland Thaygaraja Utsavam is featured only for half an hour daily morning between 0630 to 0700hrs and it appears there is no REPEAT TELECAST in the evening. Today being a Saturday, there was no Cleveland Concert in the morning. This means the program is on only from Monday to Saturday between 0630 to 0700hrs. Since the first concert on this Monday was by Sri RKS, we hope all of us will have an oppurtunity to listen to the Cleveland Concerts for the next couple of weeks ? I'm also eager to listen to Sikkil Gurucharan,Gaythri Venkataraghavan and other concerts.

The nattai song in Ravikirans concert is "Bhaja Naamrutha Paramaananda" - the first of the Saptharathnas of Sri Oothukaadu VenkataSubbaiyer.

ajit- Thanks. The Nattai song is just superb. It will be really interesting to know the reamaining Saptharatna songs of Oothukaadu. It will much more nice to have the lyrics /music notation/meanings of these songs. Can U please help ? Thanks in advance.

Actually, the program is repeated in the afternoon between 5 and 5:30.

manjunath: the dhanyasi song was "paruvam paarkka nyaayama" by Anai Ayya - the niraval, in particular was very enjoyable. Smt. Suguna Varadachari's comment on how the organizers had made special efforts to get stalwarts like Smt. Kalpakam Swaminathan and Sri. R. K. Srikantan to perform was indeed noteworthy ("adhu periya smachaaram" - as she put it succinctly)!

All the Saptharathnas are very interesting. In addition to the above notations and lyrics, Sri Ravikiran has also produced a very nice CD of the Saptharathnas. If you want to learn them, get the CD also.

This song is not heard now a days.
2. rA nidhi rAdu Manirangu
Gurucharan sings with a lot of involement bringing out the emotions of various ragas during the presentation of songs.

The kaanada krithi played by Smt. Kalpagam Swaminathan is varasiddhi vinayakam_Adi_HMD.

I did not quite like the telecast, Wonder how one can listen to high class music with so many interruptions!. I thought the TV listeners were treated badly.

vs_manjunath, sorry for the typo error. It should read HMB (Harikesanallur Muthaiah Bhagavathar).

Apart from MD's compositions, Smt. Kalpagam Swaminathan has a very large repertoire of HMB, MV, Anaiah and others, having learnt many of them directly from the masters (HMB, MV). She is simply amazing.

jananee -Thanks for this link. What a Divine Photo of Sri Oothukadu. In this photo,he resembles Shyama Sastri in some view. I may be totally wrong. This site has a wealth of info including notations/lyrics in Sanskrit.

vs_manjunath , The Purandaradasa song was Baro panduranga baro..here in Canada the telacast was continued with some excerpts from Carnatica brothers' concert (with Balan on the violin and VR & ME double mrudangam) The two items included were:
1. Thyagaraja yoga vaibhavam_Anadhabhairavi_Rupakam_MD and
2. Kannan varuginra neram--Senchuruti_Eka--Uttukadu Venkatasubbier

It was a bit strange to see the violinist sitting behind the vocalists.

vinayo- True , Here also the broadcast continued with Carnatica Brother's. I was just hearing and could n't sit in front of the TV as it's early morning 0630-700hrs, hectic schedule for job commitments. Thanks that U have covered it.
