The slokam should read: sadA bAla rupApi, "roughly meaning: always in the form of a child".

I had listened to a lot of cutcheris in my father's spool type tape recorder; we used to make out the day of the cutcheri by listening to the Navagraha song sung(if it was sung). Those were the days when cutcheris were not confined to the weekends! In the present trend, many of the Navagraha krithis may not get sung if thy have to strictly adhere to the day-wise singing.

Cienu,
If a viruttam leads to a kruti, saturday is a prelude to sunday. TGIF can precede the two!

#9 - not sure what was the raga. he did a brief outline also...

#2 - can someone help me with more details on duraiswamy kavirayar??

Here is the slokam from Shri Subramanya Bhujangam
This powerful mantra was written by Shri Adi Shankara. When Adi Shankara visited the shore temple of Lord Subramanya at Thiruchendur, he fell into a trance and the entire stanzas flowed from him. It is said that the Lord was so pleased with the mantras, words of devotion that came from Adi Shankara, that Lord Subramanya appeared, as stated in the mantra, in front of Adi Shankara. Devotees reciting this mantra will be rid of debts, sufferings and disease. Whoever recites this mantra will attain health, wealth, longevity, wisdom and heavenly abode.

1. sadA bAlaroopApi vighnAdhi hanthri, mahAdanthi vaktrApi panchAsyamAnyA
vidheendhrAdhi mrigyA gaNeshAbhidhAme, vidhatthAm shriyam kApi kalyANamurthi

Though He always sports the appearance of a child, He can crumble the mountains of obstacles. Though He is elephant-faced, He is honoured even by his five-faced father Shiva (sadyojaatam, vaamadevam, aghoram, tatpurusham and iishaanam). Lord Brahma, Indra and the other Devas seek him to fulfil their aspirations. He is known as Ganesha and He is endowed with boundless glory. May He bless me with prosperity!

Here is a tidbid on nada tanumanisam..

Saint thyagaraja says 7 swaras - sa ri ga ma pa dha ni - were born from 5 faces of siva (sadyOjAtAdi panca vaktraja sarigamapadhani vara saptasvara)

How comes 7 swaras came from 5 faces? Kanchi paramacharya seem to have asked this question to many vidwans, and no one could answer! Finally he himself broke the answer..

any one knows? I will post after few hours(;-

s_hari: I do not know but speculating, somehow S and P being exceptions as prime Swaras that came from other parts of Shiva or representing Shiva and Parvathi themselves.

VK - Yes... Paramacharya said that Sa and Pa are swayambu (no birth for them - they exist always), and remaining 5 swaras came from five faces of siva..

The five basic sounds of the mridangam: tha, dhi, thom, nam and jem, have come from the five faces of Siva--Isana, Tatpurusha, Aghora, Vamadeva and Sadyojata
http://www.hinduismtoday.com/archives/1 ... 5-18.shtml
These 5 talas were said to have originated from five faces of Lord Siva: From Varna deva - Chach chatputa tala; Sadyojata - Chaa cha puta tala;Aghora - Shatpita putrika tala; Tatpurusha - Sampadveshtakaa tala; I sana - Udghatta tala
