Mods may merge this thread with the other one after chancing the title of the former!
This is actually the Hindustani version of Suryakantam and is indeed a morning raga. It however sounds completely different and I must say the difference between Ahir Bhairav and Bhatiyar is quite stark as compared to Chakravakam/Suryakantam. The rishabham is very haunting!
Amir Khan's rendition can be picked up from sarangi.info.

Bhatiyar is a sublime raga and it is comparable to bhairavam rather than suryakantham, It is characterised by datu phrases and shines eith S/M or S/P phrases. I think it employs both Madhyamas. Not sure.
The old doordarshan advertisement for the National literacy mission (Rashtriya Saksharata Mission) had a jingle ' Poorab se soorya uga pheila ujiyaara etc ' which was an excellent representation of Bhatiyar

True, Bhatiyar has shades of pratimadhyam as per Parrikar's article. Not too familiar with Bhairavam other than the 1 standard krithi but I think S' DP phrase in avarohanam phrase is not common in Bhatiyar... characteristic PGRS on the other hand would have resonances with Bindumalani/Malayamarutham...but then Bhatiyar, like most HM ragas, is not so much a scale as a loosely defined melodic identity....
Exact equivalences with CM ragas do not always exist but finding parallels can be illuminating if approached with caution....the treatment of rishabham, as mentioned above, could be employed for a wonderul melodic effect in Suryakantham expositions which, I feel, usually flounder for an identity except in very able hands...Roshan Ara Begum's track on sarangi.info should serve to liiustrate my point.

Here is a track I had prepared for initiating my Son, who is showing interest in appreciating HM.
Has sargams from a Venkateshkumar album (available as Sagar Casettes in Bangalore , a short bit from a Dean Evenson-Shivnath Misra Fusion rendering, and a lovely vachana by Siddaram Jambaldinni.
Hope it helps the proceedimgs here.I can put up a detailed version by Rasiklala Andharia and a 1988 concert rendering by Ravishankar if anyone is interested.
