The worship of the Supreme Goddess, in the form of the Srichakra, is an ancient practice. The Srichakra has nine avaranas, and Muthuswami Dikshitar has composed nine kritis associated with each of them. These kritis form a set, called the Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis, dedicated to Goddess Kamalamba of the temple at Tiruvarur. On this programme the kritis on the first four avaranas are presented along with musician and musicologist Dr T S Satyavathy's expert comments on the Avaranas and the compositions.
