RSR,
As this thread is going in a tangent, I will simply stop by stating that your contention about kRshNa and gOpis is refuted by 'gOpikA gItam' of bhAgavata purANa, Book 10, Discourse 31.

This is wrong on so many levels. But it is the subject of another thread...RSR wrote: ↑21 Apr 2018, 14:44 The Vaishnava tradition of the Varkari sect (Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka) followed by Marathi saints and Purandara Dasa , does not at all speak about the sa-called dalliance of Krishna with Gopikas. Vitoba cult. Clean and inspiring. Lord Vittal and consort Rukmani arms akimbo standing on a brick to give dharsan.
--------------------------------------------------- As for Rama stories, we have Valmiki Ramayanam, and in Tamil country, Azhvar Pasurams ( 700 AD) and above all Kamaba Ramayanam. ( 1100 AD) almost the same period as Ramanuja. Anything that goes against their versions is not worth following.

Ah !... Did not Lord Shive who killed the God of death,Come in the form of Hanuman and serve you? ...
Is there not a similar story about Vishnu following Shiva when he was roaming as a Bikshatana ? Hope someone will provide the reference.

All of those are child stories and we have to look at the metaphysics of it , than look at it anthropologically.
Alas even music and its traditions are anthropologized.
We have sadas music - which Dhanammal gave - with pointers to the dingy house and the 15 people and her stern attitudes.
Then we have sabha music, with canteens and socializing and the lack of diversity of people attending.
Before then we had court and courtesan music or darbAr kutchery and temple music.
And now we have youtube music, streaming music and music playing by the particle accelerator! And Bathroom music and Bar music!
And there is music that is entertainment , that is Mridangam , that is actually not music, but Entertainment!
If we were ever to reverse the gaze on this and look at , say Marxism for example, as what happened in Soviet union and what is the travesty of it in China - where would that lead us to?
And liberalism with it's failing public education and drug problems in America - where would that lead us to?
We are denied the epistemic right or privilege to view our own heritage with a metaphysical outlook and made as data into somebody else's processor. Why not we do the same thing to them?
Make them data in our processor!

@304-> shankarank-> Nice post. . All nice things get corrupted in due course. One view is that the same old contest between Good and Evil , continues in new forms. Another view is that there is dialectical progress. I think, belief in progress is desirable. though there is little room for optimism. We keep hoping . 'dharma samsthapanarthaya sambavami yuge yuge'..is that the correct transliteration? . Once agin, thanking you for a nice summary of things in music world.

RSR.. thank you.. finally that we can see eye to eye in something.
Here is an important talk and I am only part of the way through - that details the exploits of Murugan with accompanying metaphysics.

@302-> SrinathK-> I am just now reading a nice paper from Shodhganga on varkari sect and haridasa movement. and am sharing the perspective from that paper... Krushna worship at Udupi and Guruvayoor also are about the childhood exploits of Krushna. Among Alwars, Periyaazhvaar dealt with that theme mostly as a parent. ...Narayaneeyam also is about that, I believe. i will read more and correct myself if needed . It is not relevant to this thread anyway. Will be great to have a thread begun on the Krushna legend as treated by different CM composers and poets.

In this 'mahabharata' thread, nearly half, in length if not in number, are not related to the topic, which is - what is the correct refrain for returning to after each charana.
As Sri Rshankar observed, "It’s the fate of nearly all threads - they all get reduced to the LCM of the posters (or is it the HCF, given it’s a much smaller number???)...."
Interestingly, the person who brought it to attention has been studiously silent, like god seems to stay off sight after creation (going by the belief of most of humanity that god created the world).

Re: Vidushi Pantula Rama's open letter to all musicians and music lovers on “Sādhinchenē”
Respected Sir, True. I too have read that portion. People interpret it as it suits them. The part that I like most is Kunti devi's prayer to Krushna. Poets ( especially Barathy, have sung about various exploits of Krushna. As a child, as a statesman, as a philosopher and guide ..mainly Gita Acharyan and Parthasarathy).
I suggest that you begin a new thread on Krushna Avatharam as seen by various composers in CM. in their kruthis and various vocalists like Smt.MS, Smt.DKP and Madurai Mani Iyer and others.
It will be great to learn from you.
Best Regards.

Today, I happened to watch telugu film Thyagayya telecast. Those interested might watch the sequence of kRti 'sAdhincenE' - around 25 minutes from the start. It has been effectively demonstrated there.

Yesterday, there was Pancharathna krtis alapana in the SBVC Channel. There were many singers- male and female. Nobody known to me. In Sathinchane, after each charanam they sang the pallavi Sathinchane and Samayaniki charanam was sung before the last charanam. This may be available in their archives.
