At NGS Mini for J.B.Keerthana, J.B.Sruti Sagar vocal flute duo.
A must have experience if you have not heard them

Paramatmudu in vaghadeeswaris started just as I entered. A really mellow & soft rendition which I feel they should more often.

A thunderous banturitikolu in response to a request. So not everyone shares my view.

Smara. . In behag

Now kharaharapriya alap on the flute.

2. Poonkuyil koovum

Percussion drowning the beauty of the song. They really need to fire these drummers.

Walked in late partly bcos of rain & smalltalk with kucheri butterfly friend in the corridor.

Kamboji main tiruvadi charanam. Wondering if the vidwan who gave this kriti the "main" kucheri status was a rebel of sorts of his time & criticized for it.

Chitra Poornima Satish.

Seems there is a change from the scheduled program as the violinist is different (kovai chandran instead of C.K.Vijayaraghavan)

Viriboni varnam amid audio distractions causing some tala misses.

Now begada alap. Cute hurried kumbidu to signify end of alap superceding the applause.

Venue: NGS Mini
Sumitra Vasudev
M.Rajeev
K.Arun Prakash
Chandrasekhara Sarma

If you plan to listen to 5 concerts in a 12 hour period, make sure Sumithra Vasudev is the one to end with. Also make sure K.Arun Prakash in on the mrdangam. If you get lucky, you may get Neelambari for main.

The concert was wonderfully salubrious, like being in an audio spa. The atmosphere was like being in a house concert with camaraderie between the artistes.

1. Pranavakaram siddhi vinayakam, arabhi, adi
2. Sari evvare sri janaki nee, sriranjani

Just heard this yesterday at Vijay Siva's Vanna Kalanjiyam emphasizing "kanakangi".

Last week I heard the kedaragowlai neelotpalamba vibhakti kriti on successive days. Shows how artistes expand their repertoire for the season.

3. Subhapantuvarali, Ennalu ooragey
4. Kanden kanden, vasantha
5. Neelambari, Sidheeswaraya namaste, misra chapu, swaras at pallavi
6. Thani

Not quite. This is on Mayuranatha, Abhayamba's consort than on Abhayamba herself.

There is a Kedaragowlai krithi on Abhayamba as well.

Priyanka is one of my favourites from the sets a) young and b) other than Vedavalli-school.

(also belongs to the set would never have seen if RS-Hall-Jaya had not introduced me to her mother --- but that set is rather small).

I wanted to see her concert with L Subramaniam playing mridangam. Another talented youngster, student of Kalidas, PSP-school tradition, but I didn't make it.

No commentary on Sumithra's concert, which was the only programme that I got to today?

I said to him, "Surely someone of your experience couldn't have tripped on a difficult korvai!" No, indeed, it was a hole in the road. I assume it was a hole, but anyway, he did it while walking. Broken bone.

So many concerts to choose from this evening (11th) but had long before determined to go to the Dhrupad performance at Spaces, Besant Nagar. This is actually Mrs N's favourite classical music, and we would have gone together, but the new grandchild decided to make an entrance sooner than expected.

The new baby is wonderful ...but I'm hoping there won't be any more in the family this season. None are expected, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :))

Young and from school of RV, but new to me (at least solo, I've seen her in groups): Dharini.

Wow. Just... wow! Straight into my favourites list with a high position too. Just my luck that I never saw her before, and she seems to now reside in USA, but hoping to see her again during this season.
