My heart will be at peace only if there is one such session in each and every town / city where rasikaorgites live.
For the timebeing, I am afraid I dont know the way to the airport in chennai .
:P
Though I live very close to it.
Everytime I try to hail one so that I can climb on to it, the aircraft simply flies past me.They dont work like taxis , I guess !!
Let us see If I can find out how to get into one.
Until Then.....

It was a very enjoyable evening....and both me n venkat loved every minute of it ( balu uncle..in the guest list u forgot venkat!: ..he claims he enjoyed the session though he normally does not follow carnatic music very much!!! but i guess music is universal) We loved havinn a ssenior like Balu uncle to lead the gathering with mami. And it was wonderful catching up wwth kamalamba, bilahari, kaapi andd 2 new memebers to rasikas..vani n jayasree.

What i loved about the evening was the spontaniety..with nobody under any pressure while singing and singing just for the sheer enjoyment of CM. We did notice the time fly....

We will definitely meet once again before Balu uncle leaves and this time Bilahari n Kaapi with their violins and we are looking for a mridangam player also..So any of u rasikas feel like joining in.....just fly in! :)

Bilahari,
I wondered why you were not there! Thought Bhairavi was a new member. When it comes to rAgAs, I prefer bilahari any day!

Quite but not quite...still to find a place. Was supposed to this weekend but received instructions to head for Calcutta early on Saturday morning which is where I am on this rather unmusical weekend (as in Mumbai, no concert details in any of the local papers here. Let us all rise to salute the Hindu, warts and all). Quite a contrast to last week which featured 5 memorable concerts :-(...will be back before next weekend though

I should be able to post the pictures by tomorrow..i do have some audio recordings but need to check on the quality.

Btw i should mention that even the tiny tots contributed to our meet yday..Rishabh ( Kamalamba's son n Gobilalitha's grandson sang a few tow liners and my son pranav managed to sing the first ever song he learnt...both contributed to rasikas in their own small way!)

Hi all

I agree with everyone present there that the evening was very enjoyable.

I am slightly embarrased with the attention to the difficult songs that I sang. Another way of looking at them is that with no / little practice, relatively straight forward songs seemed difficult and complicated when sung by me on that day.

When I met one of the rasikas here, she said she is thinking of one in San Jose, CA :)

May be time for rasikas in the bay area to wake up and smell the coffee .. :) :) :)

As GBL originally suggested rasikas.org is indeed going global!
The International Chapters will meet annually at Chennai during December under the banner of Coolkarni.
The national chapters also may meet annually at a convenient time annually.
The local chapters may meet monthly or bimonthly depending on the number of participants. The get-togethers may be announced in advance so that the globe-trotters also can participate.

Kudos to GBL for spawning the idea!

sir thank you very much, though I motivated the idea from bangalore, the entire credit should goto vidhya(janane for the forumites) and venkat, her husband, for hosting the function at her house,of course we missed bala747. we are happy that this is going to be a forerunner for many such functions all over the globe. gobilalitha

Thank you Balu Uncle for all the accolades but had it not been for your motivation i dont think we could have managed one in Singapore..hosting one is easier than getting one planned ..So thanks to you first of all for making a trip here an for the idea...We will surely see a couple more of them here before you head back...

Arasi, lol! I'm 21, and my mother 50. I was really excited about the meet having only concocted images of the forumites. I thought Kaapi would only be in his 20's, and thought Kamalamba would be older. The only person who even vaguely matched my imagination was gobilalitha sir. Thank you, jananee, for the great snaps, and of course, to balu mama for setting the wheels in motion and seeing this gathering through!

Imagined you to be an ....
Much Like my first days in Chennai when Cricket on TV was new to me.

When I found out that
(Roland) Butcher looked more like a Lamb
(Allan Lamb) looked more like a Butcher
(Gladstone) Small was anything but Small
(Alan) Border was always on centrestage , either with batting , or bowling , running.catching opponents out- never on the fringe.
(David) Steel's Hairdo looked more like Sugar Candy rather than Steel.
and (David) Boon who always looked like a Curse to we Indians.

Come On ..... Are you Man or Mouse ?
Come On..... Squeak up !!!
:D

gobilalitha .It is not a surprise that rasikaorgites have become less irritable ever since you came here .

Are you a man, or a mouse?

I don't know: show me a piece of cheese and I'll tell you.

Dear krishnan
It is so easy. Just visit a site like
http://www.mediafire.com
click on the browse button which will open your file folders. Just select the song you want to u/l and click on upload. When it is finished you will be given the link for down load. Just copy it and post it here. That is all!
It will be nice if you can have mohan's dad also join in a duet :)
