What is music after all? It is just a jumble of sounds. Just because someody wrote a grammar codifying a particular arrangement we need not get carried away as to that being the gospel truth. No doubt our physiological system responds to certain sounds due to evolutionary mechanisms. A wild shriek will draw immediate attention than a low thud. As our systems evolved we tended to associate certain patterns of sounds as pleasant and soothing. This is indeed a conditioned reflex. The child responds to a 'thaalaaTu' not because of its music but because it is conditioned to associate it with its benevolent mother. Our love of CM is equally a conditioned reflex. Hence there is no need to elevate CM on to a pedestal and attribute a Divinity or sacredness to the jumble of sounds. Again there is no need to twiddle your noses at other forms of music such as FM and claim any superiority since they are equally a conditioned jumble of sounds :) It is hedonistic to cling on to CM as the sole refuge in life. Some of you expect this Forum to be devoted entirely to your pet notion of CM which you particularly enjoy. Unfortunately most of what we discuss is only peripherally related to CM or at times not at all to CM. That is life! You cannot live on rice alone; but need the spices, condiments and essential vitamins included to survive. Hence bear with us if we add banter to CM some of which get incorporated as the essential spice of CM! You have every right like the proverbial swan to suck the essence and eschew the chaff; but then there are also the crows who come here who feed on the offal and eschew the cream and both are happy!

Live and let live!

But you keep posting vigorously and you will be at the top since willy-nilly I will drop out one of these days

Duh? Not sure why you think I hate you! Besides, we are anonymous characters here (to borrow a point made on the TMK thread) so what reason would there be for any hate?

Well, as for myself, I prefer to read the morning newspaper.
Tastes differ, I suppose.

Professions vary and habits too. On icy mornings, I wish I had a dog which was trained to fetch me the morning paper, but then again, I am not a 'dog' person. The forum 'habit' that we all have in common--needs little effort. We can all peruse it in the comfort of our own homes, whenever we find the time.
To read other people's mind is not a bad hobby (profession) at all. Like a pop singer crooned years ago, 'I want to look inside your head, yes I do!' is the kind of activity which fascinates us humans no end...

You need those who would sing the songs which exist
If I sing more, then I need the time to find those papers
They are scribbled on--those greats who preceded me
Are still waiting their turn--in fifty years, may be,my songs
Have a chance to be sung--and you want me to create more??!!

CML, let me repeat here again: I have nothing against you, just engaging in some silly banter. I don't even know who you are, so have no scores to settle.

Wonder if the shrink needs some counseling himself??

The topic which AA Rodu , EE Rodu .... started to keep the members uyirOdu (active), moved towards mistaking the object of having, just a fun vErOdu (root).

Of course, way & road are things "go" together, but sometimes, alone....

This time, for some, this road is not their way!

But, what I think is, our forum makes one feel, that, though they are alone, they never feel lonely....

If it goes otherwise, sure, let us sing mangaLam and destroy the maN-kalam (vessel made out of clay or pot), which was created for fun (yes, it keeps cool), the eco-friendly and lets echo-friendly as ever...
