As it turns out, vAnchita-varade is not by Annaswami Shastri. It is a composition of KAmakoTi ShAstri, an archaka of the KAncIpuram temple, who most likely was related to Annaswami Shastri's family.

See this thread, [where I rather confidently asserted that it is a composition of AS, based on Vid. Balamuralikrishna's comment] for more.

The singer was clearly rattled by your assertion about the authorship of this krithi.

Instead, she sang Vanajasana Vinutha in Sri ragam.

PS. It must have been a last-minute substitution because the vidushi had to look at her notes for this one krithi only!

The assertion happened in written form at 11:40 am after keerthi wrote. That was enough time for an artist to read the post and change one number for her 06:15 pm concert. As they say for every solution of one old problem , a new problem emerges- she had to refer the notes.

If the artiste took heed of my comment, I appreciate it, though my intention wasn't to rattle anyone. It is understandable that she had to refer notes. Vanajasana is quite tricky to sing at short notice,with the ciTTaswara sAhityam and everything.

I am glad that it was sung. Like every other composition of SubbarAya shAstri, it is a gold standard for the rAga. It doesn't enjoy much currency, but now it looks like two consecutive concerts at the same venue are featuring it.

Such a lovely concert . Thanks parivadini.
This artist is such a fine artist . What a way to carry a concert !!!! No need to break rules or make new ones . She has this mastery of tripping us happily in this labrymth called Carnatic Music .
Ever since she dazzled me with her our hour concert at Jeyasree Jeyraajs home , my appreciation grows.

And when she played with Smts. Jeyashree and Lagudi Vijayalakshmi, as part of the violin, vINA, vENu ensemble, the pleasure was amplified by a couple of orders of magnitude!
She makes it seem easy, and does it with no fuss!
I remember her encouraging a young Rajna Swaminathan during her tours to the U.S.
