Ragas that contain unnatural forms of notes are clubbed under the term 'vivaadi'. The use of vivaadi notes or scales has traditionally been discouraged because they bring about discordant combination of notes. This programme looks at a few ragas that are vivaadi scales or contain vivaadi notes, including a couple of ragas that are popular and widely sung.

Bombay Jayashri is among the musicians who is equally comfortable, whatever the genre of music. Her classical music has an essentially meditative nature, though she also delves into quick and exciting musical passages with ease. On the concert stage, she has confined herself to vocal Carnatic music; her training, however, has extended to Hindustani vocal and Carnatic veena. With her versatility, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath has had plenty of opportunities to handle devotional music and cross-genre experimental projects, the outcomes of many of which have been critical and popular success.
