A couple of months ago, there was an interview with Sri. R.K. Srikantan in the FM channel "Amritavarshini", during which he said that the new generation of artists sing Taana without understanding its rules correctly.
He said that there are certain rules to it, and voiced his dismay over the neglect of these rules. He also mentioned one or two technical terms, but I don't remember them.
So this is to discuss the following question:
How should Taana be sung and what are the rules to be followed?
