This is one program which should attract the youth and hence is the direct answer to

Though die-hard CM enthusiasts may deride, Charulatha uses the right chemistry to package CM in a palalatable form for today's youth. it will be nice to know what proportion of youngsters attend these programs and a straw-poll of their opinions!

My observation from the eleven Isai Payanam concerts held so far is that, while there are a good many youngsters, seniors still constitute a large chunk of the audience. Many of them are also very up-to-date with the latest cine numbers! I have helped with the quizzes that were a feature of the concerts and one distinguishing demographic they revealed was that many are not CM concert goers and have ventured into a sabha thanks to Jaya TV. However, virtually the entire audience stays till the very end, and there is no exodus during tani or violin solo etc.
Mrs. YG Parthasarthy of Bharath Kalachar, after attending one, scheduled a performance at her PSBB school. The audience there included a lot of students.

I have had a chance to listen to charulatha 2 or 3 years back at NGS (Mini), that particular day it was a thematic concert(IIRC). That particular day she sang a brilliant shanmughapriyA. The song list got drenched in the rain after the concert.
If you could just put the cine songs for this isaipayanam that would be great. Mrs YGP and YGM are the most open minded sabha patrons, to encourage a newer initiative.

The twelfth instalment of the Isai Payanam concert series went off well on Saturday.
The event began with singer Sri P.Unnikrishnan releasing DVDs of past Isai Payanam concerts (8,9, and 10) to music director Sri Dhina.
Sri Unnikrishnan spoke on how formats such as Isai Payanam help attract non-listeners to Carnatic music. He felt there were two kinds: those that would never listen to CM, and the others who lacked an introduction to CM either through lack of awareness or inertia. He said the latter could be drawn to CM through programmes that demystify basic elements of CM. He spoke interestingly of how he had entered into cine playback singing. Following the release of his first song, critic Subbudu had apparently described it in his review, as "from Kedaram to Sedaram" Sri Unnikrishnan ended with the comment: "Great music is that which enters the ear with facility, and leaves the memory with difficulty!"
Music director Sri Dhina spoke on his deep reverence for Carnatic music and its exponents. He remarked that film music composers continue to use talent from CM. He mentioned that his first hit number was sung by Smt. Nityasree Mahadevan. He felt that CM singers like Smt. Nityasree Mahadevan and Sri Unnikrishnan singing in films, helped dispel the stereotype of Carnatic singers having unattractive ("karradu murradu") voices. He had watched Isai Payanam regularly on Jaya TV and complimented Charulatha on her efforts.
Charulatha revealed that in addition to being a film composer, Sri Dhina was a veena player!
Charulatha proceeded with the concert, taking up ragas Sahana, Maand, and Bagesri. She outlined the ragas, their usage in Carnatic music, and film, and also gave some insights into the content of many of the compositions. A more detailed listing will follow.
She was superbly accompanied on the violin by Sri B. Ananthakrishnan and on the mridangam by Sri S. J. Arjun Ganesh.
