See a part of this lovely composition of Smt. Ambujam Krishna brought to life (driSya kAvyam) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvLdIwEpTNs

Lji do you have the lyrics?

(The vocalist does not sound like the late Sri Viswesvaran - any idea who he is?)

The book says that two vidvans-Semmagudi and Musiri set the tunes but does not specify the songs.

I'm pretty sure the vocalist is Madurai T. Sethuraman.

Umesh - that was my suspicion as well - must be one of the rarest of rae occasions where Smt. Chitra danced to someone else's (other than Sri Viswesvaran's) singing!

SSI version of the song is different from AP, which is:

AP : pannaga ShayanA! parama dayAkarA!
padam paNindEn nAn naRgathi peravE

C: abhayamenRE azhaitiTTa nAmamO!
aaraNangin mAnam kAtiTTa nAmamO!
(h)aran manatiDai sadA japitiDum nAmamO!
avaniyOr poTRum aayiram nAmatil - enna

The song has many sanskrit words used in AP & C by the author. In other kritis, AK has used very less sanskrit words in other songs. eg. ODODI vandEn, GuruvAyUrappan

The lyrics that arasi posted are exactly the same in the book.
