Please listen to this melodious Devotional song rendered by Sri. Sanjeev Abhayankar. The raag Pooriya Dhanashri is a Janya Rag of the HIndusthani That PUrvi (equ.to the Mela 'Kamavardhini'). The Raag pUria Dhanashri has resemblence to the raag ' Panthuvarali " of Carnatic Music. A suitable rag to sing during the Evening hours.
The Aroh is 'N r G M P d P N S'
the Avaroh is: r' N d P M g M r G r S

The song lyrics are as follow;
Rag: Pooriya Dhanashri
Shaam muraari banavaari giridhaari,
madana mohana hu sharan tripurari
Gwaal gopaal laal nand jookhe,
raadhaaraman kunj bihaari.
Can some member please translate the meaning of this bhajan, as well more details about this raag. This rag is commonly selected for presenting ' Juggal Bandis' at the stages, where the CM singer chooses the Rag.Panthuvarali to sing alongwith.. May be this, due to the close similarity of the raga with the rag Panthuvarali .
Radhe Krishna

Respected rshankarji,
Thanks for your postings and the meaning has been explained very well.
The singer uses the word " gwaal gopal lal nand jUke ".
Is there any word 'gwaal' ? and the word jUke is a verbal form of the hindi word 'jUkna' ? Please guide.

jUkE - is the same as jinkA in Suddh hindi.
gvAl AFAIK means cow, gvAl gOpAl could mean the one who herds (pAl) both cows (gvAl) and our senses (gO). gO can mean both a cow as well as our sense organs.
