SrI guruNA pAlitOsmi by MD is the most well-known in the rAga. There are a few more. See here

pADi and pahADi are totally unrelated rAgas.

pADi is a janya of mELa 15; MD's srIgurunA pAlitOsmi is in this rAga. I have also heard a pada of annamayya (tolli kalavE) in this rAga.

pahADi is an import from hindUstAni - The tillAnas of Sri LGJ (and SK too, if this is ths same tillAna Hyd Brothers used to sing - Correct me if I am wrong) are in this rAga.

pahADI means "from the hills" - It must be a folk rAga from the hilly regions.

Here is a beautiful rendition of Annamacharya's composition "gummani yedi shruthi" in the raga pAdi, by Shri. S.R.Janakiraman, followed by an equally beautiful explanation!

He paints a beautiful picture of the ragam and the sahityam!

Thanks to one of our members - Davalangi, for sharing this with us!

'gummani' in pADi by SRJ was great! Am I right in thinking that the rAgA sounds like a cheerful Revathi?

Wonderful is the word.

Can someone post the meaning of the song - I could not follow SRJ's explanation completely?

Tsakkani talliki chAngu bhaLa - Adi & Tolli kalavE iviyu -Misra chapu are 2 great gems of Annamayya in pADi: the former being a part of his S'ringAra s'atakam in praise of Devi Alamelumanga & the latter is an A'dhyaathmika kirtana (I think).

You are right. I had these two URLs in My favorites but had not accessed them for a while. I guess with the copyright suit against musicindiaonline, many sites have just discontinued access to audio files to the general public.
