PB,
The singing is as fresh now as it was then!
We adored this song and would sing it to our heart's content. Bhanumati, the multi-faceted artiste (writer, proucer, director) was just the right actress and singer for this. She was a mult-linguist and it was a breeze for her. The music is simply lovely. Her 'soap hai, sIppu hai, pAkku hai, bettalai hai' made us laugh no end. She was such a talented star--and her voice! In the same film, her 'mana mOhanamE vana vAsamE, malar angumingum maNam vISumE! enadAruyir anbarin nESamE, inbamenna solVEn' was a beauty. A maragadap pullaNi manjam tan mIdE panit tuLi tunjum, veNNilavil adan oLi minjum, adai vairam kaNDanjum' No pun intended Today's movie lyricists are praised sky high. The old film lyricists (in Hindi film too) were poets--and we took them for granted.

My mother's mama used to work in BharaNi studio as GM those days. I remember listening to him how nicely he was being treated over there.
