I once saw Alarmel Valli perform this piece in Chandigarh: her understated emoting was just right to bring this jAvaLI to life...One of my favorites too!

It was danced as a repentant heroine...a woman who in trying to convince her Lord not to be swayed by other's words...There was no anger - just a dignified portrayal..

rshankar-"by other women's words." I don't know why SSI took this Javali as compulsory in almost 70% of his concerts. May be because of (degree coffee flavour) Kapi.

I have heard Ramnad Krishnan render this javali...and I must say it was 100% Kumbakkonam degree kApi with extra sugar ...what a treat!!
