Carnatica Brothers-Pomona Temple, NY on April 3rd from 3-6pm

On behalf of the Ranganatha temple at Pomona, wanted to let the Tri State listeners know of this concert in the event of the thirunakshatram of Lord Ranganatha.

Shri Sashikiran and Shri Ganesh will be accompanied by Shri.Thanjavoor Murugabhoopathy on the mridangam and Shri.Ravi Srinivasan on the violin.

It was a nice four and a half hour energy packed concert in spite of Shashikiran having some throat issues. I missed a few songs. Please do fill in and make corrections.
The RTP was outstanding with moving alapanas by Shashikiran followed by Ganesh. Their voices being dual in nature, a deep rich voice of Shashikiran alternating with Ganesh’s sharp voice touching the highest notes, was a treat.
Tanam was enjoyable as always. Ragamalika was in ragas requested by the audience.
Ganesh rendered Vasanthi, Lalitha by Shashikiran, Revathi by Ganesh, Hindolam on the violin by Ravi.
Thani by Murugabhoopathi was nice and brisk. I wasn't able to hear much of the violin rendition in depth.
Since the crowd was immersed, they were asked to sing for an hour more.
They accommodated a lot of requests.
Sri Pomona Ranganatha am sure was very pleased on His birthday.

Interesting song list by the Carnatica Bros, featuring a number of 20th century and contemporary composers as well (Ambujam Krishna, Tanjavur Sankara Iyer and Rukmini Ramani).

My guess is that Lakshmi Kalyana Vaibhavam is probably Ravikiran's composition from the dance opera called "Lakshmi Prabhavam".
HariNarayana by Dasar is tuned to Revati (in the MLV version that I have heard); not sure if that is what they sang.

Harinarayana is a Purandaradasa kriti in Revathi. It has a beautiful madhyama kala charanam. Sounds great on the veena. Great song list
