Accompanied by Trichur TH Subramaniam - Violin , Mannargudi Easwaran - Mridangam and ghatam - govindarajan

1. ninne kOri - kannada ?? - Calcutta kS krishnamurthi
2. nee MAdi challaga(S) - Anandabhairavi -Kavi Matrubhootayya.
3. sudhamayi (R S) - amrithavarshini - HMB

4. enna punniyam seithAyo (R)- huseni - ??
5. manasu swadheenamai (R N S T) - shankarabharanam - T
6. kanda vandarul - abheri?? -??

7A.viruttam "porumai yuddan ninaindhu" - behAg + sAveri + ?? + kApi
7B.porumaiyudAn - kApi - ??
8. mangalam

What was good to very good?
1.The kannada?? varnam
2.huseni alApanai, Anandhabhairavi rare rendition of a rare nee mAdi.
3 The viruttam with a very good finish in kApi. All rAgas of viruttam were good.
4.A nice kanda vandarul in abheri?? or jOnpuri??. I was not too focussing on rAgA after main .
5.tani (Shri easwaran must be congragulated )

What was average?
1.Unwanted fast 25 seconds swaram at the end of Anandabhairavi spoiling all the mood and charm that the rAga deserves.

2. There was an uncomfortable amrithavarshini creating an unnecessary effect that was little too long. He need not keep his mouth as though he is a nAdaswara vidwan.

Overall 1 and 2 was all built up excellently, suddenly desensitizing me with a few undesired challenges to my ear .

What was poor?
1. The main was a delight only till alApanai. But the neraval and swaram were bad . Especially the violinist was hell bent on making that very poor.Just to throw some more light and to be objective,Shankarabharanam swaram after the end of ga ma pa ma ga in the mid section , should get into a fairly stable pattern. But sanjay was each time trying too many disjoint patterns and every time he kept ending as though it was the last swaram. Not to speak about the shruti lapse.

2. The sabha secy Mr Sreenivasan undesired intrusion was poorest .The kApi 7B "porumaiyudan" starting line was apt for both his intrusion and Main.

General note
1.If you all recollect, I always used to feel that he used to lift his neck too much. That was ok. But today his lateral movements did create an effect as though I was watching advertisements(usually loud in tv) too with him coming nearer and farther from the mike. I really don't care on his hand movements , which many of them made remarks as I went out of the sabha.

2.I am hearing a concert after a gap of 3 1/2 days since I heard a neyveli, suryaprakash and K gayAthri . Certainly I was charged, but Sanjay was not that reciprocative . Good luck to him in future concerts.

For me Amrithavarshini alapana was the highlight of the concert.
And I dont mind how he keeps his mouth so long as the music is good ;)

By the way I saw in Hindu today that a movie has been made on Sanjay. It is named 'Arar asai padar' and going to be premiered on 24th at Sathyam cinemas. Any more news on this?

Yes the amrithavarshini alApanai was definitely very moving and nice .Some time in the krithi rendition or swaram is when I am referring.

The rasikas gathering for Sanjay's concerts, are of the view that he handles mainly M1 raags. This thread covers one M2 raag taken up for alApanai. At least the rasikas should have been happy.

My opinion is that the artists go for the kill based on the flow of mood that is present at the time of presentation. Be it M1 raag or M2 raag, how well the artists deliver that is only to be seen.

This enna puNNiyam is not by OVK. I think it is by sivanAmayOgi or some one by such a name. OVKs kriti is in rItigauLa - enna puNNiyam sEidEnO sadgurunAthA ettanai tavam sEidEnO

the huseni can even be arunachala kavi. I found it too difficult to google and get the right answer. WE have to wait till Lakshman_Ragde clears this.

enna puNNiyam sheidAyO, in husEni, is by Shivanamayogi. kandA vandarul is by Papanasham Shivan.
I have a question about the varNa. Was it in kannaDa or kAnaDA?
There is a ninnE kOriyunna nApai kannaDa jEya taguna by KSK but it is in mALavi. There is also a ninnE kOriyunnadi mA nelata IvELa in kannaDa by Tiruvettiyur Tyagayya.
I have not found a reference for the kApi song porumaiyuDan.

Lji
It was ninne Koriyunna in mAlavi by KSK only.I usually slip a bit between kannada and begadA in varnam. Today with your mAlavi pointer , I realize that I have to pay more attention.

Possibly search for hindustAni kApi or karnAtaka kApi for the song porumaiyuDan, maybe you may get it.

Orumaiyudan ninadu tirumalaradi ninaikkindra uttamardam uravu vendum....

is Ramalinga swamigal's tiruvarutpa. I think it has been rendered in Bilahari in the film "konjum salangai"

Does it have lines like ....perumai .... pennAsai also. Then we can confirm it is tiruvarutpa.

Sanjay has concluded the thematic concert on Tiruvarutpa (Jaya TV) with the same viruttam.
