Madurai Mani Iyer and Navagraha Kritis (question)

Post by KSJaishankar »

We are all familiar with the fact that the late MMI was a Navagraha Upasaka, who included a Navagraha kriti of MD in almost all his concerts. His firm belief extended to the fact that he would not sing a kriti like Grahabalamemi or Sakala Graha Bala Neene (which TVS sings quite regulalrly), because they went against his faith in the grahas.

He was also the prime disciple of Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar, and has popularized many of his guru's kritis (Bhuvaneswariya, Jalandhara, Sarasamukhi etc).

What I am unable to reconcile is that I have never heard a recording (or indeed heard of a recording) of MMI singing HMB's navagraha kritis. Does any one have a recording of atleast a few of these kritis?
