Ramakrishnamoorthy gave another blockbuster performance on 21st at the mylapore temple. He was accompanied on the violin by sri.Varadarajan,on mrudangam by sri.Poongulam subrahmanyam and on kanjira by sri.K.V.Gopalakrishnan.
The first item chandrambhajamanasa itself was an indication of the concert to follow.
next one was papanasam sivans kapali in mohanam with ragam and swaram.the way he presented it with an elaborate alaap and beautiful kalpana swarams and the bhavam azhutham were all excellent.Lord Kapaleeswara would have definitely blessed him.
this was followed by tyagarajayoga vaibhavam in anandabhairavi with a good raga vistaram.we felt SRI.K.V.N. himself was singing.
then came a brisk Devadidevasadasiva in sinduramakriya with swaram.
the main was varali the kriti being maragatamanivarna .ragam niraval swaram and both RKM and Varadu werecompeting with each other.it was really enjoyable.
this was followed by tani. both Poongulam and KVG played very well but tani was a bit louder.
after one item i couldnot remember, he sang kadalagi kasindu virutham in behag followed by irakkamvaraduponadenna.finally he sang the mangalam pavamana fully with all charanams like pantula rama sings.
on the whole it was a very pleasing satisfying concert.
the crowd coming to the temple were attracted by his music and like me there is a group who never fails to attend his concerts.

This viruththam a tevaram is usually sung by NSG , a fantastic one , dont know which musician sang before may be kvn or some one else of his generation did it .malavi wrote: he sang kadalagi kasindu virutham in behag followed by irakkamvaraduponadenna..
While varadu was indeed there the song was irakkam varAmal pOnadenna kAraNam -behag -gkb. I also usually hear a significant touch of younger TMK in ramakrishnamoorthy voice , this number would have asserted that feel.

Even i thought for a long time that RKM was a student of TMK. Not only does his music sound like TMK's his mannerisms and facial expressions are also TMK like

Re: Ramakrishnamoorthy at kapaleeswarar temple
This is a talent to watch out for. I heard him a couple of days ago at Mysore- Bidaram Mandira(one of the places referred to by cpblog). He sang a very fine bhava laden thodi, a breathtaking durbar to an excellent accompaniment KV Prasad. He is not a loud, in-your-face kind of singer. I really enjoyed the ambience & KVP created : fine music shorn of histrionics but still with a lot of ahha moments. I happened to record his todi. Will post sometime!

i thought he reminded one of KVN (many have pointed this out) rather than TMK.
