Any Art form will continue to offer values with a maximum number of cognoscenti, connoisseur and rasikas appreciating and supporting.
To take Carnatic Music to desired Critical Mass levels and youth taking to rasikathva, Can we discuss:
1. Creation of Carnatic Music works for Orchestration and presentation, seriously, with commitment and dedication by the artists with this
exceptional talent for writing music, its Conducting and presentation.
2. Reviving the Choir form of presentation, following great work of Maestro Late M.B.Srinivasan, of Pure Carnatic Music
3. Increased opportunities and support to Carnatic Music Opera-of Existing and New works of Vaggeyalaras.
4. To try a new experiment of full fledged Vocal accompaniment to Instrumental Vid., Veena, Chitra Veena, Mandolin, Flute, Nagasvaram
Saxophone, Guitar and Harmonium.
I did suggest the idea of revival of Choir form for Carnatic Music in the 'Ideas Conclave' of Arts for Life Foundation and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, held in Bengaluru. I did not get any feed back.
Let us begin the serious contemplation and discussion.

Sometime ago, I posted this, munirao2001 but you did not notice this (or perhaps chose to ignore )
http://www.rediff.com/getahead/slide-sh ... 140224.htm
The same musician also created an ensemble choir of nearly 650 children who sang recently - and continues to do so. Bombay Jayashri recently conducted the Carnatic Children's Choir. Several such laudable initiatives are being launched and yet precious little is spoken about it.
But yet, like you, I notice that serious contributions and people doing these things hardly warrant mention, while certain vocalists and what they write (or not write about) occupies thousands of posts. Perhaps, a little more perspective is needed and true recognition of people who warrant it?

Genuinely, I have missed it. But I did read a report in the Hindu, by Deepa Ganesh, If my memory is right. I am also aware that Vid.T.S.Sathyavathi recently presented a Karnatic Music opera. But, I reserve my judgment until such time either I experience it or get the factual information on the outcome.
Very purpose of this topic is to recognize such great initiatives and works, expanding the horizon of Karnatic Music in taking to critical mass appeal.
Thanks.

I agree. We must do some thing to reassure the place of carnatic music amidst all other art and performing forms. No way it can be compared with the appeal and reach enjoyed by hindustani music. if you just look around the globe, CM is now where at all! even the most remote place in europe, HM is recognised and you have people to enjoy it !
