trijaTA, vibhIshaNa's daughter, is one of the women who guard sItA and she dreams of rAma coming to lankA and the destruction of rAvaNa, and the release of sItA - she describes the dream in detail to boost sItA's sagging morale. That is what is captured in this song.
This is one of the reasons why pArAyaNa of the sundarakANDam is supposed to grant the benefit of reading the whole epic...hanumAn recites the pUrva katha to win sItA's trust, and trijaTA's dream tells the story to come.

I need the word by word meaning for this song. I can't understand some of the words and lines.

Sudha ji has sung it most impressively. It has such a calm and soothing effect almost like a lullaby. She is really great with this song. There is no other rendition available.

Hi bkishore,
Please check in sangeethapriya.org search option and type "kanavai" and click search. You will get only one result, that of Smt Sudha Raghunathan's rendition. Fabulous, i should say. Do enjoy it,

(This describes the misfortune that will befall Mandodari when Ravana dies )
sundari maNDOdari verum talaiyai shIvinAL - The beautiful Mandodari combed her head bereft of hair
andiDattilE avaL vizhundazhudu kUvinAL - She fell to the ground and wept and lamented

(This describes the goddess Rajya-lakshmi abandoning Ravana and favouring Vibhishana)
inda mannan vIDu viTTezhundoru peN tAvinAL - A lady(goddess) leapt up from this king Ravana's house
en taghappan vITTil avaL vandugandu mEvinAL - she happily went to reside in my father Vibhishana's house
