Dear fellow rasikas,
After much prompting and offer of help from my side, I was included in an email appeal I received from Parivadini some time ago. I reproduce it below and request that whoever feels Parivadini is a worthy initiative and needs support (like I strongly feel and think) may kindly support it. They have a very interesting Nov. Series starting very soon:

Dear Sir/Ma'am,
This mail is sent to you with the assumption that you know Parivadini and Lalitharam quite well. In case you don't, please refer to a short profile at the end of this mail.
Often times when we encounter questions on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI_ZZU ... mg8gNdaCjQ, specificallly on monetization of the content?
Parivadini does not monetize its content.
Then how does Parivadini survive?
Through individual contributions of its trustees and donations from individuals.
Who are the trustees?
Lalitharam, his brother Sairaam and his father Mahadevan.
Didn't Parivadini set out to become a corporate entity?
It did start out with an intention of becoming a commercial enterprise. However in 2014 it was decided that Parivadini would transform itself in to a not for profit charitable trust. Parivadini Charitable Trust was registered in 2015.
Will Parivadini continue to webcast?
Of course it would.
Why would it webcast without any commercial benefit?
Because, carnatic music need not be confined to the bounds of Mylapore. Proximity to a sabha need not become a constraint for listening to good music. There a plenty of wonderful musicians, young and experienced, who deserve much more limelight than what they enjoy. Parivadini will try to do its bit in creating this visibility.
What is the general theme of Parivadini's webcasts?
Creating greater limelight to upcoming talent and unsung heroes.
What are the major expenses for Parivadini?
1. Broadcast Engineer's salary. 2. Bandwidth. 3. Yearly concert series expenses and yearly Parlandu award expenses. 4. Documentation project (Interviews, documentaries and others).
Why not meet this expenses through YouTube monetization?
Because it is not worth it. It is impossible to establish a criterion for revenue sharing. What percentage should go to which artist and what is the organiser's share is impossible to establish. Often times it creates mistrust. More over, all this is not worth for the pittance that YouTube pays through monetization.
Why do I still see ads on YouTube for the concerts that Parivadini webcasts?
Because YouTube plays them and makes money out of it. By not monetizing we cannot stop YouTube from making money.
As an artist why should I agree for webcasts?
It is not compulsory to agree to webcast. it is an individual choice and we completely respect it. We want to create visibility to the artists who think it will help them in one way or the other and create an opportunity for listeners worldwide to listen to the wonderful music. If even one of the many artists involved in the concert feels uncomfortable with webcasts, Parivadini does not broadcast the concert.
As a listener how many concerts can I expect to enjoy over an year?
On an average we webcast 15 concerts in a month Jan thro Nov and about 30 concerts in December.
How much does it cost for Parivadini to survive a month?
It costs Rs. 20000 for a month to meet the webcast and salary expenses. (Apart from the yearly expenses for concert series and production of documentaries, interviews etc.)
What is Parivadini looking for at the moment?
Individual Sponsors. If we could find twelve individuals contributing towards a single month's expenses, we will survive without hassle for an year.
How can I contribute?
Contributions can be sent to
Parivadini Charitable Trust,
Union Bank of India

IFSC Code: UBIN0557994
