I would like to celebrate the genius of the composers of the following rAgamAlikA compositions with the names of the rAgAs woven in very skillfully and appropriately.
The order of the songs is in the order I heard and fell in love with them:

First:
http://rapidshare.de/files/14512492/14_ ... A.mp3.html
I think this one has at least 15 rAgAs.

Next, an ashta rAgamAlikA, by N.C Chidambaram:
I think I first heard Gayatri Girish sing this one during the sangItha sEvai on one of the navarAtrI evenings at the kAthyAyinI samEtha jalakaNTEshwarar temple in IIT Madras many years ago. The words, her very emotive singing and the ambience of the temple all made this song very memorable to me. Here is a SUPERB version of the same by SK.
http://rapidshare.de/files/14515055/nId ... A.mp3.html

Finally, an elaborate ashta-rAgamAlikA by the much maligned (at least on the erstwhile Sangeetham BB) Aruna Sayeeram (I personally like her style):
http://rapidshare.de/files/14512146/08. ... I.mp3.html
AS does a great ashta rAga Alapanai, and ashta rAga swarams...VERY EXTENSIVE...at the kIrvANI point she reminds me of Somu...
Another point about this composition is that all of the rAgAs used end in the 'I' sound...very appropriate for the dEvI...

Lji, do you know who composed # 1 and 3?
Anyother songs like these? (not srIchakra rAja....)

Who is Madurai V. Krishnaswami? And is S. Kalyanaraman the same as the singer who was GNB's student?

Lji,
In this page http://www.kutcheribuzz.com/natyanjali2006/live.htm, if you click on the first link (performance by the students of Kanakasabha, Mumbai) after the 30th minute, they perform a rAgamAlikA piece on mahishAsuramasdhinI...do you know the composer?
Does anyone have an audio of the peice that they can share?
Thanks.
Ravi

I am sorry I could not quite figure out the beginnning words of the song. It sounded like Om manO (namO?) mahiSAsuramardhini and I don't have any reference to a song that strarts with these words.

Hi, I just browsed through the old threads. Since I found this one particularly interesting, I am requesting rshankar to front-end this yet again. I am sure that by this time, members will have more in their armoury to contribute : Param, Coolkarni, et al are invited.

Kaumaarm,
Are the links still active? I would love to collect more such compositions. Santanam has a similar composition on Subramanya Swami - sArangan maruganE, sAvEri pAlakanE, mOhana kumAranE .....and so forth...I have that somewhere in my tape collection waiting for that auspicious alignment of the sun, the moon and the stars when I have nothing else on my plate and I can digitize them!

Rshankar:

I should be grateful indeed. Please do it at your convenience. Meantime, do you have any such ragamalika compositions on Goddess Devi by Swati Tirunal?

Nalinakanthimathim and Thalattu Paadum Enthan were composed by my father Shri. V. Krishnaswamywho hailed from Madurai. Shri Maharajapuram Santhanam sang these two songs in several concerts in India and USA. I also heard and believe Nalinakanthimathim was being sung by several musicians in concerts

bobdi: Thanks for your post. Are the lyrics of your father's compositions available with you? If so I would be grateful if you can share them with so that they can be added to my database of lyrics.

One observation
Other than Dikshithar most of the ragamalikas are in Tamizh only and almost none in Telugu
