Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira paid its tribute to Sri. Muthuswami Dikshitar on Deeepavali day by featuring a flute recital by Vid. Shailesh Ramamurthy, who is well known among serious rasikas and muscologists for his multifarious musical expertise.
He is very well accompanied here by Vid. Charulata Ramanujam and Vid. Akshay Anand.
The fare offered has two songs on Ganesha, one in Ardradeshi. Other rare ragas featured are Kusumakaram and Mangalakaishiki. Ranganayakam and Sri Bhargavi are presented with great gravitas.
Kamalamba in Todi and Nrisimha in Mohana shine splendidly.
All in all a wonderful concert. The flute tonal quality is otherworldly. The audio recording is very good.
