Another Storm in a Teacup?

Post by sureshvv »

Chanced upon this tweet
That a narrative is being built that music can separately exist as "art music ", disassociated from Hindu Dharma, spirituality is mind boggling. Unfortunate.
and was intrigued by it enough to go chasing the thread to its root.

Led me to another doozie!
Will make a living singing the bhakti laden compositions of the vaggeyakaras, but will not even adorn his forehead with a smear of ash.
Not really good that such shallow ideas of "spirituality" are being amplified!

Agree completely, those tweets and replies from the vidushis/clique are pretty shallow.

It is good in a way because there needs to be contestation of ideas. Hopefully it will be civil and those with extreme/shallow views stay out of it.

Well the "amplifiers" were tagged by yet another person on their own tweet reply. Likely they did not check the starter.

But then :

"ellAvanum rishi alladu rishi maathiri pallikuudam patchavana? periya paTpu patchavangataan purinjikiNam!". :D

People talk in symbols, stories, allegories, rustic expressions. Abstracters have to dig through and get it for themselves. They make so much effort with the "sub-altern" and in historiography?? Why not here?

Not everybody is educated in the valley or valley equivalent school did they?
