I was waiting for Sowmya or others to give the details..
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Vocal : Sri T N Seshagopal

Violin : S D Sridhar

Mrudangam : Sri Guruvayur Dorai

Ganjira : N Amrut

Harikeshanallur Muthaiah Bhagavathar Krithis..

Another superb concert by TNS. He was in outstanding form through out. The voice was stable barring a couple of instances. He started his concert with a guruvandana slokam , possibly written by himself , and how appropriate !! The first half of the concert was with full of anecdotes , stories , narration of incidents and explanations which itself was a case to talk about.

Guruvayur Dorai was brilliant. He anticipated very well and was the only person on stage who could follow TNS properly , and Amrut followed Dorai very well. S D Sridhar on violin was below par, and that took away some shine from the otherwise a classy concert. There were no violin reply for many of the raga alapana of TNS.

Here is the concert song list :

01 Slokam (mandasmitha mukha ) - nAttai - TNS ?

He started the concert with a Guru vandana Slokam on Sri Muthaiah Bhagavathar, and what a way to begin. He offeres his respects to his “paramaguruâ€

Yes, Academy concert with Mysore Manjunath and TK Murthy - 1997[?] IIRC. A breath taking Akshayalingavibho with a neraval at Badari vana mula! Outstanding. I got it off AVM records ages ago!!!!!

Well, I was hoping somebody else would. I was late for the concert [entered for the Malahari piece], and left early. So I thought somebody else should provide the complete list. Anyway, I was not that impressed with the concert. His selections were very good, and Vallinayaka was rendered well, but I didn't like the rest, especially his alapanas.. We left just as he started the Shankarabharanam kriti.

Mahesh,

Thanks for the information.

About the concert: I was thinking he will deliver an RTP in rare ragas as HMB is famous for rare ragas like Vijayanagiri and Vijayasaraswathi or valaji.

The violinist never kept in line with the alapana(intricate aspects/notes esp hamsanandi ,the vocalist desired), the mridangam was good but somehow did not match to the tempo of the singer, the khanjira was mostly watching. Yet, Sridhar did a good job while playing alapana in reply and so the thani. Dorai goes very well with TNS but not that day . The same Gayana Samaja TNS has given a Shankarabharana which remains one the best I heard. It was a bit dull overall.
