Thanks DRS. Do you have a recording of this (your or any other's) by any chance? Also, you have mentioned the rAga as puSHpalata. Is this the same as puSHpalatika?

Thank you DRS. I would really love to listen to that krithi. The first 2 words ("guru kripalEka") that came up in a compositions listing of Vasudevacharya struck me and I really wanted to know rest of the sAhityam. Looking forward to the recording. Thanks once again.

puShpalatA is a upAnga janya of the 22nd mELa- kharaharapriya
Scale

SR2G2M1PN2S* | S*NPMGRS ||

Care Should be taken to avoid maNirangu while singing this rAga.

Very nice krithi(Ikanaina nA moravinarAda). The recording didn't sound great but I liked the rAga. Kindly post the sAhityam of this krithi as well, when you get time? At one place I thought it sounded like dhEnuka but I don't suppose these are related at all.

I dont have lyrics of ikanaina. Lakshman will surely have it. And I felt the recording quality was pretty good.

Maybe it was just the player on my computer. Sorry, I should've checked before asking sAhityam for "ikanaina". I usually look in that site (karnatik.com) but forgot to do that this time.

Dr Shriikaanth, thank you for throwing light on the inception of pushpalatikA. It explains why one would notice traces of kharaharapriya when MSS traverses the higher octaves in ikanaina nA. Without good training and reinforcement, it does seem difficult to discern maNirangu from this rAga, as one would find out while attempting the anupallavi of bhAvayE gOpabAlam ("navajaladhara nIlam..") of svAti tirunAL where this becomes apparent.

I am sorry I did not see the earlier request for the lyrics of this song. Here it is:

ikanainanA. rAgA: puSpalatikA. Adi tALA. Composer: Tirupati Narayanasvami.

P: ikanainanA moravina rAdA inakula candrA idi samayamurA
A: akaLanka nIvE AdhAramani Ashrayincu nannAdarinca rAdA
C: parama dayAkaruDa ninnu prahlAdAdulu vEDaga
karuNinci nIvu kApATa lEdA tirupatipura varada venkatEsha

Meaning:

P: Can you atleast listen to my plea now? Oh Raama! Its about time you come to my rescue
A: Oh Impeccable!!! You are the one who can protect me, please dont let me down..
C: You are an epitome of kindness and have been worshipped by Prahalada. You reside in Tirupathi as Lord venkatesa...

My list has 26 songs in this rAgA.

karuNinci nIvu kApATa lEdA tirupatipura varada venkatEsha
I think the last line should read as

karuNinci nIvu kApADa lEdA tirupatipura varada venkatEsha
