The brothers K.N.Shashikiran & Chitravina Ganesh were in great form. The kaanada varnam was a brilliant start to their vocal duet concert. They rendered 'Shobillu saptaswara',a beautiful composition of Thyagarajar, gracefully.Their rendition of 'Bhuvaneshwariya nene' was evocative.
The main piece was the RTP-natabhairavi which was fantastic.Alapana & kalpanaswarams were spectacularly rendered by the brothers. They were embellished with rich perceptive imaginations. In the raga natabhairavi introduced by Shashikiran, there was an exquisiteness in his rendition. His alapana was soulful emphasizing a lot of bhava. His creativity & technical mastery brought out the emotional features of the rendition.Ganesh showed his creative talent during the rendition of kalpanaswarams which was impressive. They cajoled each swara with a sometimes endearing & sometimes with a deep throated resonance. There was a perfect coordination between both the brothers.
With their booming voices & lively presentation, they gave an enthralling recital.
They were well supported by very accomplished accompaniments.Pakkal Ramdas was excellent on the violin.Rachana Swaminathan who is just 17 years old gave an exquisite Thani performance on the mridangam.
