Hi: I'm a beginner rasika of carnatic music, and at this stage in my life (after a bunch of carnatic and hindustani vocal training) I would like to teach myself some kritis. In general I can figure out the raga arohanam and avarohanam using a known kriti as guide, but it would be SOOOO useful if there was a website/blog where I could click on a raga and listen to the arohanam and avarohanam. Does anyone know if there is any such site/blog that is freely available? Thanks Chitra

This is not exactly what you are looking for and pardon me if you are already aware of this.

The following link contains brief alapana and a short song in that raga for about 75 ragas by Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan.

"Listen & Learn - 72 Melakartas" is an album by Charulatha Mani and Sikkil Gurucharan, where arohana, avarohana of all melakartas are sung.

raaga.com has the tracks, numbered by melakarta:

For the sake of completeness: For those who have an iPhone, iTouch or iPad, there is a free app called iRaagamLite which is a melakartha chart application ( http://www.appstorehq.com/iraagamlite-iphone-48100/app ). It plays the arohana/avarohana of melakarthas and selected janya ragas.
