Venue: Sath Sanga, Madipakkam, Chennai (7 pm onwards)

Violin: Embar Kannan
Mridangam: Neyveli Narayanan
Ghatam: Karthick

Varnam - Mohanam - Adi (S)
Nike Teliyaka Pote - Anandabhairavi - Adi - T (S) - nice set of swaras anchored at panchama
Ranganathude - Saurashtra - Adi - T
Needu charamule - Simmendra madhyamam - Rupakam - T (RN at veda vedantha, S)
Sri Ramam - Narayanagowlai - Adi - D
Karunajudu ninnu - Sri - M Chapu - SS
Swararaga sudha - S'baranam - Adi - T (RN at rajithagiri, ST). The charanam they chose to sing started with rajithagirishudu and not the muladhara I have heard earlier in MSS recording.

Left after that as it was already 9:30 :-(
Hearing everything for the first time in a live concert platform.. so it was refreshing..

It might me my inability but simmendra madhyamam at times looked like hemavathi (could hear shades of shri kanthimathim). The alapana was stretched out in this case and after the initial 4 - 5 minutes sounded repetitive/meandering. S'baranam alapana was shared by both the brothers and at times sounded hindustanic like. Overall, not upto the expectations they set following their Brahma Gana Sabha concert (ahiri, sahana) but was good nonetheless given that there were new items :-)

Narayanan & Karthick gave good support. The way Karthick joined the songs at appropriate times stood out and enhanced the overall concert. Tani was short & enjoyable.
