I read some where long time ago that dancers stood in front of the accompanying artists and recited shlokas before they started dancing (poorva Ranga vidhi) in Mysore style. I have not seen any videos of this. Neither do I know what shlokas were recited.

This is what i read:
Purva Ranga Vidhi, the prelude to a typical Mysore-style Bharatha Natyam concert, consists of three parts. In the Pushpanjali, the dancers offer flowers and seek the blessings of Lord Nataraja, the God of Dance. In the Shlokam, the dancers worship Lord Hayagreeva, as the embodiment of consciousness and bliss. In the Kauthuvam, the dancers pray to Lord Vinayaka, also known as Lord Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles.
