Tomorrow(April 4th) Chennai-ites can relishVid Neela Ramgopal's concert at PS High school. (at 0630 PM). She's accompanied by Charulatha Ramanujam on the violin and Trivandrum Vaidyanathan on the mridangam.

I do hope you can make it to this 4th of April concert. I do know that you appreciate the music of veterans. Here is one whose music you will certainly enjoy. Her vidvat, her rich imagination, her joy in singing and the way she oscillates the svarAs are all one of a kind.
Again, though she is from tamizh nADu originally, Karnataka prides in her talents ( she has lived there for a long time), Tamizh nADu pays scant attention to her music, I'm afraid.

Could you go to the concert? Was Rajesh, Bharath or any other rasikA there? I heard that TRS was there and praised her for the durbAr she sang--this news is from a non-member.

Yes, I did go the concert, which was very good, although I was fighting sleepiness all day, which did interfere with my pleasure. I had the honour of meeting her before the program: apparently she had enquired of a mutual friend (Prema Rangarajan's husband) who this "nick" might be!

The were several rasika members there, and a number of senior musicians. Sri Chandrasekaran was easy to recognise from side view, and I believe I recognised the back of PSN's head.

It was a good, solid, no-fuss concert, and I look forward to hearing her again
