Malladi brothers presented a very classical concert, with rich bhava and impeccable pronunciation. The younger brother (Ravi Kumar) seemed to have a voice problem and did not sing as much as he does normally and the elder brother sang a lot more. The overall impact was not compromised though. The selection was very appropriate and was rendered very well. The emitiki dayaraadu composition in ananda bhairavi was very moving.

The accompanists matched the main artists every step and contributed to the overall success of the concert. The tani was of a very high quality.

I think it is normally sung in Yamuna Kalyani.

Must have been a very good concert. There seems to be more Krishna songs for a normal Ramanavami concert.

In another concert thread, there was a question: the need for mentioning where a performer hails from. I wonder--in a very long celebration of Rama Navami, if only songs on RamA are sung, don't other major composers get left out but for tYagarAjA and a few others? Do we need to discriminate against the various avatArams and boycott songs on the dEvis too?!!

vasantha swarams were interesting. Nishadam was sung as both plain and with gamakam. darbar alapana was good, but most of the ending phrases where ggrsr, violin response by nagaraj was excellent, he used some fast phrases, and tanam phrases while ending alapana. The keerthana was brand new for me, and mostly sarva laghu swarams were sung. shankari sankuru was sung in nice kalapramanam, kambodhi alapana was developed with nice phrases, initial alapana for first two minutes above panchamam, and then focused around shadjam. Neraval was very brief, particularly second kalam, just 1 avarthana. It would have been an average concert, had it not been for UKS & Nagaraj, both of them provided excellent support. As usual UKS's tani was very special.
