This year we are focusing on a scheme to identify individuals and give them a platform to showcase their talents. The reason for this festival is that many times there are very talented artists both in Chennai and other cities who do not get many opportunities mainly because not too many people know about them. We also completely understand that the main sabhas get so many applications every year for the season concerts that they find it very difficult. Some of them do make their selections by listening to recordings of artists to select them. We all agree that the best way to judge talent is to actually hear them live. This is what we plan to provide-- more live opportunities to identify talent by showcasing them in Chennai.
Every quarter we propose to have a festival called UtsAha featuring young talented artists. To make sure that this is not a one time happening but a continuous process, this festival will be held every four months.
We are extremely fortunate that many of the leading organizations in Chennai have agreed that they will use these concerts to send their representatives to spot talent in these concerts. The proposed model is to conduct music programs, which shall be attended by representatives from various sabhas to have a first hand experience of their talents. The organizations will make their own independent judgment of these artists.
Artists are chosen through recommendations from many leading artists all over India.
