Mudras

Post by laya2 »

Hi,

I am trying to choreograph for Bhrama Okate song. I have some doubts in mudras.

I got the meanings of the song from http://www.karnatik.com/c1107.shtml

1. "Chandala" (man of the lowest caste) - what is the mudra used for this
2. I know we should use Pathaka mudra for showing 'Day", but I don't know how do we show that using the mudra for indicating 'day'
3. What is the mudra used for showing 'angels'

Can somebody help pls.

thanks.

HI laya2

1. you can just hold your hands at chest and cringe. Like 2.16 in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrn8V3qkc5g or you can show someone wiping their sweat off as these people were bricklayers or something. you can also show outcast by showing out (like suchi "saying get out")+community (karkata) or oyu can show low+birth (show him bowing to other people with pataka on the mouth+sandamsham at womb)

2. dawn is shown like 0.19 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecul2JqufAA
mid day can be shown by showing sun on top of your head (left alapadma), suchi on right at chest (http://www.flickr.com/photos/subhalaksh ... otostream/)

3. devataluku doesnt mean angels. It means damsels in heaven. they are by no means angel equivalent because i dont think angels are supposed to have sensual pleasures. :D The catholic church will freak out.
you can show heavenly damsels just like you show any woman (katakamukha and dolam). just be more flirtacious and curvy.
