I guess, if we start to do something about these 'illams' (both SS' and MD's) before 'developers' get a hold of these, maybe we can have a better impact than rasikas have had with the tayagarAja illam!

I fully endorse your views. Would it be advisable to approach Archealogical Survey of India? In the interim, we should get the activity stayed. Shall we petition the President of India who is Vainika himself?

Further to my post - I have sent the following e-mail to the President of India -

Respected Sir,
Recently Madras High Court has quashed a petition regarding rebuilding of house of Saint Thyagaraja at Thiruvaiyaru because they were approached late.
Now some person has floated another proposal for reconstruction of houses of the Trinity at Tiruvarur. In this connection, I would like to invite your attention to an ad placed in the website http://www.kutcheribuzz.com/ebrochures/srishyamasastri/
As you are yourself a connoissuer of music and a vainika, I seek your intervention to ensure that our heritage is not lost.
I highly regret my action of approaching the First Citizen of India, but I see no other alternative.

Perhaps we can buy off these illams from whoever owns them now, so that no-one else can 'develop' them without our permission!

Anyone here knows who owns SS and MD illams?
